Baltic Photonics Participates in SAPRA Event

On 16 October 2026, representatives of Baltic Photonics participated in defence technology demonstrations organised by the International Association of Defence Manufacturers (SAPRA) at the Sēlija Military Training Area. The event brought together Latvian defence industry companies, technology developers, industry partners and representatives of the National Armed Forces.

The event offered an opportunity to explore solutions developed by Latvian companies first-hand, exchange experience and discuss potential cooperation. The Baltic Photonics team actively engaged with visitors, presented the company’s work in photonics and explained how locally manufactured components can strengthen regional and European supply chains.

During these discussions, Baltic Photonics representatives also presented the company’s project (No. 1.2.1.4/1/23/I/001), which is developing technology for producing specialised 22 mm gallium arsenide (GaAs) semiconductor wafers for photocathodes in cooperation with SIA “Photonics International R&D center”. These wafers are an important component of night vision devices and image intensifiers. The project aims to grow wafers directly to the required size rather than cut them from larger wafers. This approach helps improve quality and reduce production costs.

Participation in the SAPRA event was a valuable opportunity to introduce Baltic Photonics’ work to the industry, receive feedback and establish new contacts for future cooperation. Thank you to the organisers and everyone who visited us and joined the discussions!
