Germany-Latvia Defence Industry Days: Advancing Cooperation and Strengthening Industrial Capabilities
SAPRA - the International Association of Defence Products Manufacturers – and Baltic Photonics participated in the Germany-Latvia Defence Industry Days, representing the defence, technology, and innovation ecosystem and reinforcing the importance of cross-sector cooperation. Both organisations were also represented visually through EXPO area branding and information materials.
The event brought together key actors from the defence, security, technology, and innovation sectors of both countries. It served as a platform for structured dialogue between government institutions, industry stakeholders, and technology developers, supporting cooperation within the wider European defence and security landscape.
The programme included policy and procurement sessions focusing on defence capability development priorities, procurement frameworks, localisation processes, and mechanisms for international cooperation.
German and Latvian institutions outlined strategic directions for the defence industry, highlighting opportunities for joint capability building and the integration of advanced technological solutions.
The business and industry section presented investment pathways, the potential of dual-use technologies, and development opportunities in infrastructure, cybersecurity, communications, and unmanned systems.
The event also featured an EXPO zone, supporting targeted B2B meetings between companies, research organisations, and institutions from Germany and Latvia.
Participating sectoral organisations included SAPRA, MilTech, FSDI Latvia, and representatives from investment and business development agencies. Discussions emphasised the need for an integrated industrial environment where innovation, manufacturing, and research are aligned with operational defence requirements.
The Germany-Latvia Defence Industry Days highlighted the commitment of both countries to advancing sustainable industrial cooperation, fostering technology transfer, and developing joint solutions that contribute to Europe’s security and technological resilience.
